Radioactive Rain

7 April 2011

This morning, I woke up to the smell of rain.  I peered out my window and saw the ground was wet and people everywhere walking with umbrellas. I got ready, and left my apartment but the second the elevator doors closed, I realized I’d forgotten my umbrella, ella, ella, eh. However, once I stepped outside, I was relieved to see that there was barely a drizzle to worry about and walked on, head uncovered to work.

The stares I got from people were uncountable.  Everyone turned to look at me like I had a death wish.  The use of umbrellas here is notoriously overrated, but these looks weren’t the casual, OMG, your hair is going to get wet, your makeup smeared.  NO, they were looks of horror!

When I got to school, I found out that half the students didn’t come out of fear of being exposed to radioactive rain.  Some schools had half days, I even heard one friend was sent home to take a shower when she arrived to work damp from the rain.

Pretty sure this is 100% overrreaction, but, it won’t stop people from dressing like this:
