One love

“Let the world change you and you can change the world.”
-The Motorcycle Diaries

People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost.

—Dalai Lama

“Even after all this time, the sun never says to the Earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look at what happens with a love like that; it lights the whole sky.”

“We spend our lives looking and searching in every conceivable corner of the world for that one thing that will bring us the fulfillment we desire above all else, only to find that it is glowing deep within.”
-Darren Main

I wanted a perfect ending.
Now I’ve learned, the hard way,
that some poems don’t rhyme,
and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end.
Life is about not knowing, having to change,
…taking the moment and making the best of it,
without knowing what’s going to happen next.
Delicious Ambiguity.

Gilda Radner

I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.
—Maya Angelou

“Act as if the future of the universe depends on what you do, while laughing at yourself for thinking that your actions make any difference.”

-Buddhist advice

If you can start the day without caffeine;
If you can get going without pep pills;
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains;
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles;
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it;
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time;
If you can forgive a friend’s lack of consideration;
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when,
through no fault of your own, something goes wrong;
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment;
If you can ignore a friend’s limited education and never correct him;
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend;
If you can face the world without lies and deceit;
If you can conquer tension without medical help;
If you can relax without liquor;
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs;
If you can honestly say that deep in your heart you have no prejudice
against creed or color, religion or politics; then, my friend, you are
almost as good as your dog.”

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore. Dream. Discover.
– Mark Twain

“Life is like a play- don’t make it a business, otherwise you will miss it. There is no purpose.  There is no goal.  Why not be like a flower, purposely flowering? Why not be like a river, meaninglessly flowing? Why not be like the ocean, roaring, just enjoying?”
-Heraclitus via Osho
“Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world.  For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.”

“When you travel, you experience, in a very practical way, the act of rebirth. You confront completely new situations, the day passes more slowly, and on most journeys you don’t even understand the language the people speak. So you are like a child just out of the womb. You begin to be more accessible to others because they may be able to help you in difficult situations. And you accept any small favor from the gods with great delight, as if it were an episode you would remember for the rest of your life. At the same time, since all things are new, you see only the beauty in them, and you feel happy to be alive.”

-Paulo Cohelo, The Pilgrimage

“The nature of matrimony: an absurd invention that could exist only by the infinite grace of God. It was against all scientific reason for two people who hardly knew each other, with no ties at all between them, with different characters, different upbringings, and even different genders, to suddenly find themselves committed to living together, sleeping in the same bed, to sharing two destinies that perhaps were fated to go in opposite directions.”

-Dr. Juvenal Urbino, Love in the Time of Cholera

People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive.
– Joseph Campbell

We turn to God for help when our foundations are shaking, only to learn that it is God who is shaking them.
– Unknown

If you cannot find the truth right where you are, where else do you expect to find it?
– Dogen
